At the Aug. 20 meeting of the Fernley City Council, Mayor Neal McIntyre honored the state champion Fernley Softball Little League with a proclamation in recognition of their accomplishments.

The team won the District 3 and Nevada State championships, then finished fourth in the Western Region Tournament in Tucson, AZ.

The proclamation states that the team demonstrated exceptional skill, dedication and teamwork throughout the season, and also embodied the spirit of sportsmanship, perseverance and respect for their opponents, coaches and officials.

The proclamation recognized the players for their achievements and for being positive role models for the youth of the community.

“Therefore, I, Neal E. McIntyre, Mayor of the City of Fernley, along with the city council, do hereby recognize and enthusiastically congratulate these young athletes for their outstanding accomplishments,” McIntyre read.
