3:30 p.m. update
Power is still out in the area of the downed power line and the most recent estimate from NV Energy for restored power is 4 p.m.
Robert Perea, The Fernley Reporter
A tree that fell and knocked down a power line on Farm District Road delayed school buses and caused a power outage for several residents Tuesday morning.
According to NV Energy, the outage was reported at 6:11 a.m., leaving 64 customers without power as of 11 a.m..
The tree alongside Farm District Road between Rainbow Lane and Jessica Lane fell across the power line and onto the roadway. Nevada Highway Patrol troopers and City of Fernley crews stopped traffic at Rainbow Lane and Jessica Lane while NV Energy crews worked to remove the tree and repair the power line.
NV Energy estimates power will be restored in the area around noon.
Silverland Middle School is without power, and the Lyon County School District has advised that the school will continue with a normal dismissal time at 2:15 p.m.
The district reports that students are safe, the staff is continuing to deliver instruction and a cold lunch will be served. Phones will continue to be down while power is out. The Silverland office is still open.

Comment text: Maybe there is more to this story than what is reported, but it seems to me that the businesses that are causing this problem ought to be paying for this, or at least a major portion of it. Why does the County have to pay the whole bill? Just my opinion.
