Battle of the Badges fundraiser set August 13 for sister of firefighter fighting cancer

Battle of the Badges fundraiser set August 13 for sister of firefighter fighting cancer

Firefighters from North Lyon Fire and deputies from the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office will be

competing in a Battle of the Badges fundraiser at the Black Bear Diner from 4-9 p.m. on

Wednesday, August 13.

The fundraiser will be similar to the fire department’s annual takeover of the Black Bear Diner

for the Northern Nevada Children’s Cancer Foundation, where firefighters and deputies will be

serving dinner and all tips will go to the family of Brandy Haas, who was diagnosed with triple

negative breast cancer in 2021.

The firefighters held a Stuff the Boot fundraiser on the 4th of July, where Fire Chief Brian Bunn

said they had raised $3,600 by the end of the parade. There is also a GoFundMe account and

donations can also be made through the fire department.

Haas is the sister of North Lyon firefighter Josh Chandler. She had undergone chemotherapy,

multiple surgeries and ongoing treatments and posted on social media that she is hoping to try an

intensive integrative treatment center in Scottsdale, AZ.

Why does the County have to pay the whole bill? Just my opinion.
