After going 3-5 at the Northern 3A Divisional Duals last weekend in South Tahoe, the Fernley High School wrestling team will head to the 3A North Region Tournament this weekend with five wrestlers seeded in the top four.
The Region Tournament begins with weigh-ins at 2 p.m. Friday at Truckee High School, with wrestling scheduled to begin at 3 p.m., or when weigh-ins are completed. The tournament continues Saturday, starting at 10 a.m.
Individual records from the Divisional Duals are used to seed wrestlers in the individual weight classes for the regional tournament.
A.C. Reyes, Lonnie Slapinski, and Willy Pritchard each won third seeds, while Carter Chapin and Gabe Richards will be fourth seeds. Jared Caulk was unable to compete in the duals because of injury. But coach Scott Gillespie said he should still be seedable for regionals, based upon his season record.
“We will be back at full strength for the regional tournament and we have had a great week of practice,” Gillespie said. “I am excited to see what our young team can do this weekend in Truckee.”

Comment text: Maybe there is more to this story than what is reported, but it seems to me that the businesses that are causing this problem ought to be paying for this, or at least a major portion of it. Why does the County have to pay the whole bill? Just my opinion.
