Fernley resident arrested on California warrant

A Fernley resident was arrested Monday after the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office and California Highway Patrol served a search and arrest warrant issued in California.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division, Special Investigations Unit (SIU) assisted California Highway Patrol Major Crime Unit (MCU) Detectives in the execution of search and arrest warrants at a home in the 200 block of Heather Lane. The warrants stemmed from an ongoing criminal investigation originating in California.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team led the tactical operation to safely serve the warrant. During the operation, 41-year-old Fernley resident Eric Daniel Brock was taken into custody without incident. Brock was booked into the Lyon County Jail on a charge of being a fugitive from justice, pending extradition proceedings.

At 10:56 am., LCSO issued an alert notifying residents of police activity in the area of Shadow Lane and Miller Lane, advising the public to avoid the area. The announcement of the arrest was issued at 12:54 p.m.

Comment author: Christopher Walsh Comment text: Could you look into the strong recurring smell around Fernley? It smells like sewage and it can be bad enough that people don’t want to be outside or open their windows. It would be helpful to get an investigative journalist help the Fernley residents get a clear answer from the City, NDEP, and any involved facilities. I was really disappointed that the smell was not disclosed by my realtor when I moved here. I enjoy Fernley and am seeing the improvements that are being made. Why does the County have to pay the whole bill? Just my opinion. Comment publication date: 5/7/26, 10:26 AM Comment source: Storey County, Tesla partner to extend I-80 Patrick on-ramp
