Read below to learn about the new Fire Board Appointments!

The North Lyon County Fire Protection District Board of Directors has appointed Christine Sullivan to fill the board seat vacated by the resignation of chairman Mike Tooms last month.

Two people initially expressed interest in the vacancy when it published a notification of the vacancy in May, but one of them didn’t include a letter of interest, so the Board published the notification again earlier this month. The time it received two letters of interest. However, one of the candidates sent an email on the morning of the meeting saying he had been called out of town for work and may not be able to attend the meeting

The board interviewed Sullivan, who was present at the meeting, then voted 4-0 to appoint her to fill the vacant seat.

In her letter of interest, Sullivan said her experience as a paralegal in contract management and negotiations, leadership support and proven ability to manage diverse teams will being about strategic and transformative change to the district.  She told the board she has been in the legal field about 20 years, starting as a paralegal in intellectual property, before moving into contracts.

She said she has lived in Fernley for two years, and is married to Jim Sullivan, the district’s public information officer.

Following the appointment of Sullivan, the board voted to name Paul Murphy as chairman, Debbie Skinner as vice chairman and Aly Roemer as secretary/treasurer.
