The deadline to apply to fill the vacant seat on the North Lyon County Fire Protection District Board of Directors is next Tuesday, June 10.
The fire district is seeking to fill a seat vacated by the resignation of Chairman Mike Toombs in May.
The board was originally scheduled to make an appointment at its May 28 meeting. Vice Chairman Paul Murphy said the district received two applications, but one came in after the deadline, and the other did not include a letter of interest. The board decided to reopen the application period since the first two applicants did not meet the district’s posting requirements, but encouraged both of them to restate their interest and to submit a letter of interest.
Anyone interested in applying to fill the vacant seat must provide the district with a Letter of Interest no later than 4 p.m. on June 10 at 195 East Main Street, Fernley, NV 89408. An appointment is scheduled to be made at the Board of Directors Meeting at 6 p.m. on June 12. Candidates must live within the boundaries of the district.
