LCSO Deputy honored by NAMI

LCSO says that beyond the call of duty, Westbrook has been a true advocate for mental health, actively participating in community outreach events and promoting mental health awareness across Lyon County!!!

The National Alliance on Mental Health has named Lyon County Sheriff’s Deputy Zachary Westbrook as its Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) Officer of the Year.

In nominating him for the award, LCSO cited Deputy Westbrook’s exceptional dedication as the Behavioral Health Peace Officer and member of the Lyon County Mobile Outreach Safety Team (MOST). In 2024 alone, Westbrook personally responded to 835 calls for service involving individuals in need of mental health support and crisis intervention.

LCSO says that beyond the call of duty, Westbrook has been a true advocate for mental health, actively participating in community outreach events and promoting mental health awareness across Lyon County, and says his commitment to de-escalation, crisis intervention, and compassionate service embodies the very spirit of CIT.
