North Lyon Fire has announced a reduction in daily staffing levels due to budgetary constraints. In a statement released Wednesday, the department said it will have new minimum of four firefighters and one battalion chief per day. They said the change is due to challenges stemming from previous budgeting practices. The statement said the previous fire administration relied heavily on one time funding sources such as ARPA funds and mutual aid billing, which it says is not sustainable for ongoing operational needs. The district’s previous daily staffing was seven firefighters.
