McCullar, Muhammad win championships at Spring Creek Kiwanis Wrestling Tournament

The Fernley High School girls wrestling team placed fifth and the boys team placed seventh in the 31st annual Kiwanis Wrestling tournament hosted by Spring Creek last weekend.

Coach Jacob McCullar said it was a very good tournament with more than 80 teams combined in both divisions.

“I was very proud of both squads, they battled really well,” he said.

Boys medal winners were Archie Mendez 5th, Caleb Finley 6th, Nathan Pritchard 3rd, Isaiah Mutte 5th and Calvin Bacon 6th, along with tournament champion Riley McCullar.

For the girls, medal winners were Tina Garcia 4th, Bronwynn Garrett 6th and Nadera Muhammad was tournament champion..

The girls will head to McQueen for the Northern Regionals this weekend. Fernley will be hosting the boys league duals this weekend.
