City issues advisory ahead of storm

City issues advisory ahead of storm
Robert Perea, The Fernley Reporter

With a winter storm warning in effect Sunday and Monday, the city of Fernley is advising residents to be prepared.

Forecasters have stated this will be one of the largest snow events we have seen in Western Nevada in quite some time. As Lyon County and the Governor have already indicated, please plan ahead, complete any necessary tasks (shopping, etc.) on Saturday, and plan, if possible, to stay off the roads on Sunday.

“As the County Manager says, tell people to go shopping Saturday and stay home Sunday,” Fernley mayor Roy Edgington said.

Edgington advised residents to leave their sandbags in place if they still have them from recent flood preparations, and he said city crews will be on standby throughout the weekend with snow plows at the ready.
