Boys & Girls Club honors Youths of the Year

The Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows Serving Fernley honored Alyssa Sandate and Madison Carillo as its Youths of the Year at its third annual Fernley Awards Banquet on Oct. 3 at The Meadows Event Center.

The Club also honored several Members of the Year in three different categories

and presented the Distinguished Service Award to Nevada Cement and its Volunteer of the Year Award to Sharon Holley.

The Youth of the Year awards is the Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s signature effort to foster a new generation of leaders, fully prepared to live and lead in a diverse, global and integrated world economy. It is the highest honor a Boys & Girls Club youth can achieve.

Sandate is a junior at Fernley High School who aspires to be an actress or a dentist. Carillo is a senior at Fernley High School who hopes to become an orthodontist.

  • Allyson Kimmel, Silverland Middle School


Character and Leadership

  • Jonnie Mead, Fernley Intermediate School

  • Raymond James, Silverland Middle School


Healthy Lifestyles

  • Andrew Jordan, Silverland Middle School

  • Maxton Dillion, East Valey Elementary School
