Effective July 1, 2024 Lyon County Human Services (LCHS) was awarded the Nevada Local Justice Reinvestment Grant by the Nevada Department of Sentencing Policy.

The awarded funds will be used to expand the existing Forensic Assessment Services Triage Team (FASTT) program which provides case management and supports to incarcerated individuals with services that include evidence-based behavioral health and risk/ needs screening and assessments, educational groups, medical referrals, and re-entry service plan development. The newly created Re-Entry Supportive Services Program will fill the gaps in necessary services for recently released inmates to assist in reducing recidivism. Once an inmate is released to the community, they will be assigned a Peer Support Specialist who will address and provide support as identified in the Transition Plan, created by the FASTT Case Manager, to aid in successful reentry to the community.

The utilization of Peer Support Specialists is projected to reduce the rates of recidivism and therefore result in an increase in public safety through crime reduction.

Why does the County have to pay the whole bill? Just my opinion.Comment publication date: 5/7/26, 10:26 AMComment source: Storey County, Tesla partner to extend I-80 Patrick on-rampComment author: Alan ReederComment text: Great guy, laughed easily, had fun with his students, enjoyed our time together at FHS!Comment publication date: 4/23/26, 10:23 PMComment source: Howard David JacksonComment author: Jack & Nancy CookComment text: Wonderful man.
