Northern Nevada's large animal rescue team, Least Resistance Training Concepts Inc., is in need of additional volunteers. As an all-volunteer organization, LRTC provides urgent assistance to both domestic and wild large animals. Nearly ninety percent of LRTC’s responses go to help the Virginia Range mustangs. LRTC comes in when either the public or the animals are in danger. You may have seen LRTC in action moving mustangs out of harm’s way while dressed in their orange safety vests. It’s not uncommon to see LRTC working along with law enforcement.
LRTC is specifically seeking people who live in Fernley, Dayton, Carson City and South Reno who have some time to volunteer and help provide a critical service to the community. There are multiple paths for volunteers to consider pursuing and no experience is necessary. LRTC provides all training free of charge.
A new volunteer orientation session will be held at the Dayton Community Center on Oct. 21. The center is located at 1234 Main Street in Dayton and will start at noon. Refreshments will be provided.

LRTC was founded as a non-profit in 1999 by Willis and Sharon Lamm of Stagecoach. Initially the organization provided Technical Large Animal Rescue Training to horse owners, public safety organizations and worked closely with the Bureau of Land Management. Today, in addition to providing training services, LRTC operates the largest Technical Large Animal Rescue program in the nation. With specialized equipment based in both Stagecoach and Reno NV and over 40 certified volunteer responders, LRTC responds to urgent calls from the public, range managers, and law enforcement daily.
