Escaped inmate arrested with another wanted person

Robert Perea, The Fernley Reporter

The inmate who escaped from a holding cell at the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office Fernley substation on Sept. 29 was arrested Wednesday, along with another person who was wanted on a felony warrant.

According to a statement released Wednesday afternoon, at approximately 1 p.m. Wednesday the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office special investigations unit received information that Cory Tyler was in an apartment near 175 Hardie Lane.

Through surveillance, detectives confirmed that not only was Tyler in the area, but so was Bradlee Morris, who was wanted on a warrant from outside Lyon County. Tyler and Morris were arrested without incident. Fernley Intermediate School and Fernley Elementary School were placed on a brief lockdown during the incident.

Cory Tyler (pictured below) was booked into the Lyon County Jail on charges of escape, probation violation and possession of a dangerous weapon.

Bradlee Morris (pictured below) was charged with out of county felony warrant, failure to appear warrants for a charge of grand larceny and a charge of resisting arrest and possession of more than one ounce of marijuana.

Both Tyler and Morris are being held without bail.

Tyler was arrested on a Nevada Parole and Probation warrant on Sept. 29. He was on probation for sales of a controlled substance. He was transported to the Fernley Substation for temporary housing prior to being taken to the Lyon County Jail in Yerington for booking. But the arresting deputy didn’t properly secure the cell and Tyler escaped when the deputy left the area.

Why does the County have to pay the whole bill? Just my opinion.Comment publication date: 5/7/26, 10:26 AMComment source: Storey County, Tesla partner to extend I-80 Patrick on-rampComment author: Alan ReederComment text: Great guy, laughed easily, had fun with his students, enjoyed our time together at FHS!Comment publication date: 4/23/26, 10:23 PMComment source: Howard David JacksonComment author: Jack & Nancy CookComment text: Wonderful man.
