The Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows Serving Fernley recognizes their "superstar" Club members and their "celebrity" community supporters at this year’s red carpet-themed Annual Awards Banquet, Thursday, Oct. 5, at the Meadows Event Center. Cocktail service begins at 5 p.m., followed by dinner and awards program at 6 p.m.

The Annual Awards Banquet honors Cody Wagner, Community Health Worker Training Coordinator at the Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey Counties, with the 2023 Distinguished Service award, along with the Fernley Youths of the Year, Araceli R. and Anna E. The night also honors kids who make a difference in the lives of their "castmates"/Club members by living the Club’s mission each day, leading by example, and helping others. Twelve members from the Club’s youth and teen centers are set to receive a Member of the Year award, saluting their outstanding service and participation among the Club’s 1,300 plus members.

"The Annual Awards Banquet is the best night of the year for our organization," said Mike Wurm, President and CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows. "Our Youth of the Year recipients are the best examples of the Club's impact on our members, and we can't wait for the community to hear about their Club journeys."

The Annual Awards Banquet includes hosted cocktails from 5 to 6 p.m. followed by dinner and an awards program featuring performances from Club members sure to rock the "Walk of Fame." The Title Sponsor is available for $4,000 and includes an eight-person table and full-page program ad, as well as a speaking opportunity at the event. You can also purchase an eight-person table for $500, and individual tickets are $75 per person. Purchase tickets online at bgctm.ejoinme.org/FernleyAwards2023 or contact Caiti Whitfield at 775-360-2448 or [email protected]

Why does the County have to pay the whole bill? Just my opinion.Comment publication date: 5/7/26, 10:26 AMComment source: Storey County, Tesla partner to extend I-80 Patrick on-rampComment author: Alan ReederComment text: Great guy, laughed easily, had fun with his students, enjoyed our time together at FHS!Comment publication date: 4/23/26, 10:23 PMComment source: Howard David JacksonComment author: Jack & Nancy CookComment text: Wonderful man.
