No flooding reported in Fernley yet; County reports significant flooding in Dayton

No flooding reported in Fernley yet; County reports significant flooding in Dayton
Robert Perea, The Fernley Reporter

Fernley City Manager said late Sunday afternoon that no flooding has been reported in the city, but Lyon County has reported several areas of flooding in Dayton and is asking people in those areas to stay indoors.

Hooper said although no problems have been reporting, the city is still monitoring conditions.

“Staff is on call and we will monitor throughout the night,” she said.

In Dayton, several areas are experiencing flooding due to debris and slushy snow clogging local drainage.

Affected areas include:

  • The River Road area between Segale Road and Cardelli Road.

  • Branstetter Avenue at Six Mile Canyon Road.

  • V & T Way off of Branstetter Avenue

  • Grosh Avenue and Sheep Camp Road.

  • Rose Peak Road is closed between Pine Cone Road and Flowery Avenue.

Due to the continuing heavy rains and local flooding, Lyon County Manager Jeff Page is asking for Dayton residents to stay home as much possible and off the roads.  There are a number of current road closures throughout the area, and the weather conditions are expected to get worse throughout Sunday night.

"Currently we are looking at 24 to 72 hours to get the Dayton roads cleaned up and restored,” Page said.

Why does the County have to pay the whole bill? Just my opinion.Comment publication date: 5/7/26, 10:26 AMComment source: Storey County, Tesla partner to extend I-80 Patrick on-rampComment author: Alan ReederComment text: Great guy, laughed easily, had fun with his students, enjoyed our time together at FHS!Comment publication date: 4/23/26, 10:23 PMComment source: Howard David JacksonComment author: Jack & Nancy CookComment text: Wonderful man.
