The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man on a charge of murdering a Yerington man who was reported missing in June.

Timothy Brewer was arrested Thursday on a charge of open murder and destruction of evidence. He is charged with killing Sir Charles Lester, who was reported missing on June 28. Friends and family of Lester reported that they had not had contact with him in almost a week, which was very unusual.

At that time, deputies met with Brewer, 57, at a home on Farrell Lane in Yerington, where Brewer and Lester were roommates. Deputies said Brewer told them that he and Lester were in a verbal argument on June 20 and that Lester had left the home with an unknown friend, and he said he had not seen Lester since then.

On June 30, LCSO entered Lester into NCIC as a missing person. While investigating Lester’s disappearance, deputies searched the property on Farrell Lane on Thursday and found what appeared to be a recently dug gravesite. Technicians from the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office exhumed the gravesite and found the body of a man who was tentatively identified as Lester.

Anyone who has information regarding the case is asked to contact the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office at (775) 463-6620 or by email at [email protected] in reference to Lyon County case number 23LY02827. Why does the County have to pay the whole bill? Just my opinion.Comment publication date: 5/7/26, 10:26 AMComment source: Storey County, Tesla partner to extend I-80 Patrick on-rampComment author: Alan ReederComment text: Great guy, laughed easily, had fun with his students, enjoyed our time together at FHS!Comment publication date: 4/23/26, 10:23 PMComment source: Howard David JacksonComment author: Jack & Nancy CookComment text: Wonderful man.
