Governor Joe Lombardo will be the keynote speaker for this Monday’s Memorial Day ceremony hosted by the Nevada Veterans Coalition at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Fernley.

This year’s ceremony will honor Gold Star Families, and will also include Operation Battle Born: Ruck to Remember 2023. The three-day, 60-mile march began Saturday near the Capitol building in Carson City, with veterans and volunteers carrying more than 7,000 dog tags with the names of service members who died in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

On Saturday, Veterans Coalition members and volunteers placed flags on each grave in preparation for the ceremony, which begins at 11 a.m.
