Threat reported at Fernley schools

Threat reported at Fernley schools

Robert Perea, The Fernley Reporter

Fernley schools sent a notice to families Friday morning that they were aware of a threat of a school shooting, but that students and staff are safe. Several schools in Reno and other areas apparently received the threat as well. the following is the notice emailed by Fernley High School:

Our school is aware of an unspecified threat about a school shooting that is circulating among the community and within the region. Our students and staff are safe and secure and school operations are continuing as normal.

Our schools have been in touch with Lyon County Sheriff's Office (LCSO) as a precaution, and at this time, there is no credibility to the threat(s). Out of an abundance of caution, we will have an increased presence of law enforcement at our schools.

Thank you.

Ryan Cross,

Principal

Why does the County have to pay the whole bill? Just my opinion.Comment publication date: 5/7/26, 10:26 AMComment source: Storey County, Tesla partner to extend I-80 Patrick on-rampComment author: Alan ReederComment text: Great guy, laughed easily, had fun with his students, enjoyed our time together at FHS!Comment publication date: 4/23/26, 10:23 PMComment source: Howard David JacksonComment author: Jack & Nancy CookComment text: Wonderful man.
