The Lyon County Sheriff’s deputies seized a vehicle to be processed for forensic evidence on Wednesday as they continue to investigate the death of a man found in a Fernley house Christmas Eve.

According to the LCSO, at approximately 10:25 p.m. on Dec. 24, Lyon County dispatch received a 911 call reporting that a man had been found unconscious and not breathing, inside a home in the 600 block of Canary Circle in Fernley.

The North Lyon Fire Department and deputies from the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office were immediately dispatched to the scene and found 57-year old Fernley resident Dean Sandoval dead in the home.

Results of an autopsy and the official cause of death have not been released, and likewise, LCSO said results of the forensic testing of the vehicle seized Wednesday are not being released at this time.

The vehicle was seized Wednesday when LCSO, with the assistance of the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Forensic Investigation Section, executed a search and seizure warrant.

Why does the County have to pay the whole bill? Just my opinion.Comment publication date: 5/7/26, 10:26 AMComment source: Storey County, Tesla partner to extend I-80 Patrick on-rampComment author: Alan ReederComment text: Great guy, laughed easily, had fun with his students, enjoyed our time together at FHS!Comment publication date: 4/23/26, 10:23 PMComment source: Howard David JacksonComment author: Jack & Nancy CookComment text: Wonderful man.
