Robert Perea, The Fernley Reporter

The Fernley High School wrestling team is off to a strong start, finishing third in the Cody Louk Invitational last weekend in Winnemucca

The Vaqueros were led by sophomore Marciano Montano, who won the 165-pound championship. Junior Camron McMackin and freshman Nathan Pritchard each placed second in their weight classes, while freshman Riley McCullar, and seniors Brady Garrett and Brandon McCullar each placed third. Senior Nick Glass and freshman female Sophie Workman both finished fifth,

Of the 14 weight classes, the Vaqueros have freshmen in eight of them. The Vaqueros also have 10 wrestlers on the girls team, the first year they have had a girls team.

“Overall, really proud of our squad, which is led by team captains Brandon McCullar, Brady Garrett and Nick Glass all of whom are returning state qualifiers,” coach Jake McCullar said.

This weekend the Vaqueros are wrestling in a tournament in Folsom, Calif.

Why does the County have to pay the whole bill? Just my opinion.
