Fernley lithium extraction company to receive $50 million grant

Lilac Solutions, a lithium extraction technology company in Fernley, announced on October 19, that they were selected to negotiate a $50 million grant award from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Manufacturing and Energy Supply Chains and Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy to advance domestic lithium production.

Lilac Solutions will use this grant funding to develop a new technology to increase production of lithium, with minimal environmental impact, from domestic resources to support the growth of a domestic lithium-ion battery supply chain and support U.S. electric vehicle producers.

Northern Nevada Development Authority partnered with Lilac Solution alongside the Governor’s Office of Economic Development, Department of Employment Training and Rehabilitation’s EmployNV Job Center, and the Western Nevada College to establish their operations in Northern Nevada, support the DoE grant initiative and provide training for 74 skilled employees.

Why does the County have to pay the whole bill? Just my opinion.Comment publication date: 5/7/26, 10:26 AMComment source: Storey County, Tesla partner to extend I-80 Patrick on-rampComment author: Alan ReederComment text: Great guy, laughed easily, had fun with his students, enjoyed our time together at FHS!Comment publication date: 4/23/26, 10:23 PMComment source: Howard David JacksonComment author: Jack & Nancy CookComment text: Wonderful man.
