Two escape with minor injuries in forced landing near Lahontan

Robert Perea, The Fernley Reporter

Two people in a small airplane escaped with only minor injuries after they were forced to make an emergency landing Wednesday evening near the Lahontan State Recreation Area.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a possible downed airplane near the Lahontan State Recreation Area at approximately 6:45 p.m. Deputies, as well as the as well as the Central Lyon County Fire Department responded and located a Cessna 172B on the north side of US Highway 50, approximately four miles east of the U.S. 50/U.S. 95A intersection in Silver Springs.

The aircraft was occupied by two adults, who suffered only minor injuries in what they described as a “controlled landing” after the aircraft suffered a mechanical failure. Both occupants were provided a ride back to the Silver Springs Airport, where the flight had originated.

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board were contacted and are investigating the incident.

Why does the County have to pay the whole bill? Just my opinion.
