Pyramid Lake Fire, NDOT to conduct controlled burns along 447

Pyramid Lake Fire, NDOT to conduct controlled burns along 447

Robert Perea, The Fernley Reporter

Pyramid Lake Fire Rescue/EMS and the Nevada Department of Transportation will be conducting a fuels mitigation burn along a two-mile stretch of SR-447 just south of Nixon this Tuesday and Wednesday, May 3-4.

From 8 a.m. to approximately 4 p.m., fire and NDOT crews will be burning off heavy fuels alongside the road in an effort to prevent a possible wildfire in the future.

The burn area will be on SR-447 between Dead Ox at Mile Marker 10 and Little Nixon Road at Mile Marker 12.

Drivers should expect delays as traffic may have to be stopped periodically for safety. If possible, plan to use an alternate route to avoid this area.

Anyone having questions or concerns can call the Pyramid Lake Fire Rescue/EMS at (775) 574-8999.

Why does the County have to pay the whole bill? Just my opinion.
