Five injured in fire at American Highway

Five people were injured after and explosion and a fire Wednesday morning at American Highway on Resource Drive.

Four of the injured people were treated at the scene, and one was transported to an area hospital. The explosion occurred in an area of the plant where power coating is done.

Fire crews were paged to the two-alarm fire at 8:56 a.m. A total of 23 firefighters responded, with crews from Central Lyon County, Storey County, Pyramid Lake and the Nevada Fire Marshall’s Office assisting North Lyon Fire.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause.
