The Fernley High School wrestling team won the Lyon County Championships Wednesday night in Yerington, and also won individual championships in 9 of the 14 weight classes.

The Vaqueros won duals against Yerington and Dayton to take the team championship. Silver Stage did not field a team.

Individually, Jared Caulk (113 pound class), AJ Kuha (126), Tyler Egan (132), Carter Chapin (160), Cameron Bowman (170), A.C. Reyes (182), Gabe Richards (195), Willy Pritchard (220) and Lonnie Slapinski (285) won individual  championships.

“I am satisfied with our efforts,” coach Scott Gillespie said. “Our kids expect to win and it shows during the tough matches that we face. Carter Chapin particularly stood out in his win at 160s.”
