By Mary Marinello, For the Fernley Reporter

David and Maryknoll Bowen will celebrate the grand opening and ribbon cutting of the Bizarre 101 Art Gallery at Walker Lake next Saturday, February 12.

The Gallery features the creative works of local artists to include graphic design, metal art, ceramics, paintings, watercolor, textiles, florals, collections and jewelry. Bizarre 101 is located on the west side of Highway 95, between the Baptist Church and Big Horn Crossing.

Bizarre 101, as home and gallery, is full of art inside and out. The building is painted in an Indian geometric motif. David Bowen has adorned the building with his "Winged Bighorn" symbolizing local nature. Shelley Hartman's mural features the legendary "Cecil the Serpent".  Nigel Giddings created "Robot Bob" and Jan Henry's Ford Model A is a vintage collector's delight.

Thanks to the Walker Lake Neighbor's donations of recycled furniture, displays, materials, equipment, labor and support., the building stands as a tribute to their generosity.

David and Maryknoll have lived very full lives. David has been devoted to art since he was 10. His work in commercial design and graphic art is now available in Walker Lake. Maryknoll had a successful career as an entrepreneur and corporate executive. They have both owned and run other businesses alone and together.

All art lovers are invited to come to Walker Lake Saturday, February 12 for the grand opening and ribbon cutting to support the gallery and local artists of Mineral County.

Why does the County have to pay the whole bill? Just my opinion.
