Fernley High School to celebrate “Disney Channel Homecoming” this week

Week includes fundraisers for Homecoming Hero Kamrin Allen

Robert Perea, The Fernley Reporter

Fernley High School will celebrate its Homecoming this week with the theme of the Disney Channel, with a variety of activities throughout the week and a weeklong fundraiser for this year’s Homecoming Hero, Kamrin Allen.

Each day this week will be a special dress up day, and they will be a special deal each day with various businesses in town to raise funds for Allen.

An eighth grade student at Silverland Middle school, Kamrin has Burkitt lymphoma, a form of B- cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. He has had many rounds of chemotherapy and has lost the ability to walk. Kamrin has had more than 16 procedures, 26 blood transfusions, about 21 platelet transfusions, four feeding tubes, kidney drains and stents and 15 spinals. His family of six is down to one income.

During Homecoming week, several local businesses will be offering specials and a portion of the sales will be donated back to Kamrin and his family to help with medical costs. The other Fernley schools will be joining in with fundraisers as well.

On Monday, Freedom Espresso is offering a “Kamrin Kicker” all day. The dress up day at school is Teen Beach, featuring bikers vs. surfers, with hats, sunglasses, sandals, tropical shirts, shorts or biker’s clothing. Glow in the Dark kickball will be played at 7:30 p.m., in which girls play wearing a headlamp and boys coach and watch.

Tuesday FHS will recognize Kamrin as the Homecoming hero with the Miracle Minute during advisory period. Dress up day is descendants, where students dress either as a villain or in all black. Decorating the gym will start at 8 p.m., and the FHS Booster Club will be grilling hamburgers and hot dogs for students and staff before decorating starts.

Wednesday’s dress up theme is High School Musical, where students wear athletic gear or dress like their future career. Boys will play human foosball at 7:30 p.m. on the football field, while girls will help with poles and shag. Steve’s Homemade Ice Cream will be offering a special all day to benefit Kamrin.

Thursday is Camp Rock Day, where students dress in outdoor clothing or as a rocker.

Lip Sync will be contested at 7:30 p.m. in the gym. There is a $5 entry fee to attend lip sync and Wild West Burgers will be selling the Kamrin Classic (burger, fries and a drink) for $8.

There will also be a donation bucket.

Friday is sprit wear and students will dress in black and orange. The Homecoming assembly will be held Friday. The Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned at halftime, and Kamrin will be introduced to the crowd as the Homecoming Hero. The donation bucket will also be passed around at the game.

The semi-formal Homecoming dance will be held from 8-11 p.m. Saturday.

Why does the County have to pay the whole bill? Just my opinion.Comment publication date: 5/7/26, 10:26 AMComment source: Storey County, Tesla partner to extend I-80 Patrick on-rampComment author: Alan ReederComment text: Great guy, laughed easily, had fun with his students, enjoyed our time together at FHS!Comment publication date: 4/23/26, 10:23 PMComment source: Howard David JacksonComment author: Jack & Nancy CookComment text: Wonderful man.
