Keller to speak to Fernley Republican Women Oct. 20

Lyon County Commissioner Vida Keller will be the guest speaker for the next meeting of the Fernley Republican Women, at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 20 at the Fernley High School Commons area. The public is invited to attend.

Keller will provide an update on the questions on the November ballot. 

Keller was first elected to the Lyon County Commission in 2011 and served until 2015. In 2018, she was elected to her second non-consecutive term. She currently serves on the National Association of Counties (NACO) Legislative and Public Lands Committees, Northern Nevada Development Association (NNDA), Carson Area Metropolitan Planning (CAMPO) and RTC Regional Transportation.

Keller is president and broker of Priceless Realty, Inc., specializing in commercial/industrial manufacturing and consulting. She is co-owner and vice president of Keller Construction & Development, Inc. She served as president of the Silver Springs Area Chamber of Commerce from 2006 to 2011. She served as 1st vice president of the Fernley Republican Women in 2016, 2017 and 2020. She has many other accomplishments and was included in the Nevada Women in History project in 2015.

The FRW’s Caring for America/Adopt-a-Soldier Program collects non-perishable foods for the Fernley Food Bank, along with donations of funds and care items for their adopted soldiers. The soldiers need single-serving food items, personal care items and, most especially, cards and letters from home. The Literacy Committee collects new children's books for Bow Wow Books, an organization teamed up with the Fernley library to teach children how to read. All contributions for these programs will be greatly appreciated.  Financial contributions can be sent to the FRW at P. For a large municipal facility like the indoor-outdoor Fernley Swimming Pool located at 300 Cottonwood Lane, a complete ground-up commercial build or major structural renovation typically spans 6 to 12 months or longer when factoring in large-scale engineering, public municipal permitting, specialized commercial HVAC/roofing, and health department inspections. The current renovation has been- The Fernley Swimming Pool has been closed for approximately six to seven months since late February 2026 for a major roof replacement and facility renovation. Now you sat October. Soooo 8 months for a new roof. The picture shows no other renovations. It smells like sewage and it can be bad enough that people don’t want to be outside or open their windows. It would be helpful to get an investigative journalist help the Fernley residents get a clear answer from the City, NDEP, and any involved facilities. I was really disappointed that the smell was not disclosed by my realtor when I moved here. I enjoy Fernley and am seeing the improvements that are being made.
