Outbreak at Yerington assisted living facility spikes Lyon County COVID-19 cases

The Quad County Emergency Operations Center reported 31 new cases of COVID-19 in Lyon County Friday, most of them from an outbreak at Mason Valley Residence, an assisted living facility in Yerington

Lyon County Manager Jeff Page reported Thursday that 34 out of 53 tests were positive at Mason Valley Residence, although the Department of Health and Human Services reports a total of 36 cases and 33 active cases at the facility. Three previous deaths were reported at the facility.

There have been 508 total cases in Lyon County, 74 of them currently active, with 426 recoveries and eight deaths.

As of its most recent update at 6 p.m. Oct. 10, 204 total cases have been reported and 21 cases are active in the 89408 zip code, according to Carson City Health and Human Services and the Quad-County EOC. The breakdown of cases by zip code within the Quad-County region is available at https://gethealthycarsoncity.org/covid-19-cases-by-zip-code/.

There have now been 1,453 total cases, 1,277 recoveries and 17 deaths in the Quad-County region.
