Two Lyon County COVID-19 deaths reported Thursday

A man and a woman, both in their 80s and both with underlying conditions, died Thursday due to COVID-19, the Quad-County Emergency Operations Center reported.

They became the fourth and fifth Lyon County residents to die due to the virus.

There were also six new cases and six recoveries in Lyon County reported Thursday, out of a total of 13 new cases and 22 recoveries in the Quad-County region.

The new cases Thursday are a woman in her 70s with a connection to a previously reported case, a man in his 70s with no connection to a previously reported case, two men in their 20, both with no connection to a previously reported case, and two women in their 40s, both with no connection to a previously reported case

There have been 194 total cases in Lyon County, 38 of them currently active, with 151 recoveries and five deaths.

As of 6 p.m. July 2, 84 total cases have been reported and 15 cases are active in the 89408 zip code, according to Carson City Health and Human Services and the Quad-County EOC. The breakdown of cases by zip code within the Quad-County region is available at https://gethealthycarsoncity.org/covid-19-cases-by-zip-code/.

In all, there have now been 665 total cases, 526 recoveries and 12 deaths in the Quad-County region. Ten Quad-County residents are currently hospitalized due to COVID-19.
