Third Lyon County COVID-19 death reported Friday

A third Lyon County resident has died due to COVID-19, the Quad-County Emergency Operations Center reported Friday.

In addition, five new cases and one recovery in Lyon County were reported in Lyon County, among 13 total new cases and 11 recoveries in the Quad County region.

The person who died Friday was a man in his 80s. It is unknown if he had underlying conditions.

The new cases reported Friday were a man in his 50s with no connection to a previously reported case, a woman in her 60s with a connection to a previously reported case, a woman in her 30s with a connection to a previously reported case, a woman in her 50s with no connection to a previously reported case and a man in his 20s with a connection to a previously reported case.

There have been 169 total cases in Lyon County, 35 of them currently active, with 131 recoveries and three deaths.

As of 6 p.m. July 24, 75 total cases have been reported and 11 cases are active in the 89408 zip code, according to Carson City Health and Human Services and the Quad-County EOC. The breakdown of cases by zip code within the Quad-County region is available at https://gethealthycarsoncity.org/covid-19-cases-by-zip-code/.

In all, there have now been 567 total cases, 430 recoveries and 10 deaths in the Quad-County region. Twelve Quad-County residents are currently hospitalized due to COVID-19.
