Coach says Fernley girls basketball Extravaganza is great success
Robert Perea, The Fernley Reporter

The Fernley High School girls basketball program held its second annual Extravaganza on Saturday October 8 at Fernley High School. The fundraiser was a great success with more than 180 people attending the dinner. The program offered more than 40 raffle prizes along with another 35 silent auction prizes and other games.

“The atmosphere was great,” coach John Rogers said. “The girls served prime rib and salmon and did an awesome job taking care of our guests needs. The reaction and participation from everyone was outstanding helping the program raise enough money for all expenses needed for the upcoming season.”

Along with the dinner and games, the players sold banners to local businesses as advertisements which are displayed on the wall in the FHS gym.

“Last season, the program sold 18 banners and this year we doubled that number to 36,” Rogers said. “I was extremely happy with everything that night. The girls worked extremely hard taking care of our guests and reaction from everyone was very positive. Our families spent countless hours helping get this event together and it was an overwhelming success. The community really came through for us and we are truly grateful. I want to simply say thanks for everyone's support and to come out and cheer for the Vaqueros once the season starts.”

Why does the County have to pay the whole bill? Just my opinion.
