Fernley Masonic Lodge #34 awards four scholarships

Robert Perea, The Fernley Reporter

The Fernley Masonic Lodge #34 has awarded four scholarships to 2020 graduates of Fernley and Silver Stage high schools.

This year, the $1000 scholarships were awarded to Reese Richardson and Aleana Duncan from Fernley High School and Miguel Pacheco and Ian Massey from Silver Stage High School.

Each year the Fernley Masonic Lodge awards four scholarships to Fernley High School and Silver Stage High School.

The basic criteria consist of a student that has maintained a high grade point average for the past for four years; the student expresses an interest to continue to college, for a professional career, or expresses an interest in attending a vocational trade school; maintained a good attendance performance for the four years of high school; must show an interest in their community, contributing to the betterment through participating in local clubs or organizations that encourage youth; and is encouraged to return to his or her community in the work force in their chosen career field.

Each year, the Fernley Masonic Lodge holds an annual golf tournament to raise money to provide scholarships for the high school student that are submitted for consideration. The annual Masonic Lodge golf tournament is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, August 1 at the Golf Club at Fernley. For information contact Eric Lawrence at (775) 343-5156

Why does the County have to pay the whole bill?
