LCSO participating in Joining Forces campaign focused on DUI

LCSO participating in Joining Forces campaign focused on DUI

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office will be saturating the highways in Lyon County seeking out impaired drivers between the dates of May 1 and May 8, 2020 along with other law enforcement agencies as part of a Joining Forces campaign.

According to LCSO, impaired drivers have consistently been the most common cause of motor vehicle crashes resulting in injuries and deaths in Nevada. There is someone injured in a car crash every two minutes, and someone killed every 53 minutes in the United States involving an impaired driver.

Increasing law enforcement presence during these weeks is an effort to support the overall state goal of reaching Zero Fatalities.Lyon County residents can help reach that goal by following these safety guidelines:

  • Designate a sober driver before drinking.
  • Use a taxi, call a sober friend, family member or use public transportation.
  • Call 911 if a suspected drunk driver is on the road.
  • Take the keys or assist in making other arrangements for someone who is about to drive impaired.
  • Call law enforcement, it is better for the impaired driver to be arrested than involved in a crash.

Why does the County have to pay the whole bill? Just my opinion.Comment publication date: 5/7/26, 10:26 AMComment source: Storey County, Tesla partner to extend I-80 Patrick on-rampComment author: Alan ReederComment text: Great guy, laughed easily, had fun with his students, enjoyed our time together at FHS!Comment publication date: 4/23/26, 10:23 PMComment source: Howard David JacksonComment author: Jack & Nancy CookComment text: Wonderful man.
