Assembly GOP Caucus calls on Sisolak to start process of reopening state

Robert Perea, The Fernley Reporter

The Nevada Assembly Republican Caucus on Monday released a four-part plan to reopen Nevada which it called on Governor Steve Sisolak to begin implementing immediately to reopen the state’s economy.

In a press release issued Monday, the caucus cited the protests in Carson City and Las Vegas as examples that Nevadans are looking for a plan or hope to get them back to work.

“People should not have to resort to ignoring health guidelines to get the attention of their elected officials,” the caucus said in its press release.

The four parts of the plan presented by the caucus include:

  • Join the California, Oregon and Washington Western States Pact to work on best practices to mitigate the spread and economic impact of the coronavirus.
  • Establish a regional plan to modify and/or ease Nevada’s stay at home orders
  • Establish a bi-partisan taskforce to advise on a strategy to re-open Nevada
  • Establish a curbside pickup model that will allow non-essential retail businesses to open
