Richard D. Jeffery

Richard D. Jeffery

In loving memory of Richard “Jeff” Jeffery, we are saddened to announce his passing on January 17, 2020. Our family honored him with a military service to our great country on March 9, 2020 at the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Jeff was born in Rochester, New York February 7, 1929 to Howard and Hazel Jeffery. He joined the Marines after high school and proudly served our country piloting airplanes including the historic Corsair F4U and the A-1 Skyraider. He retired from the Naval Air Warfare Center in China Lake, California where he made significant contributions to microwave and missile guidance systems.

His love of aviation, cars, electronics, amateur radio and the military carried him through his entire life. We all know how much he enjoyed feeding the hummingbirds. Those who wish to honor his life are invited to hang a hummingbird feeder at their home.

Jeff is survived by daughter Desiree, son David and son James. Daughter Jennifer preceded him in death 2012. He has 12 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

He will be dearly missed by his family, friends and girlfriend LaVerne Bienhorn.

Why does the County have to pay the whole bill? Just my opinion.Comment publication date: 5/7/26, 10:26 AMComment source: Storey County, Tesla partner to extend I-80 Patrick on-rampComment author: Alan ReederComment text: Great guy, laughed easily, had fun with his students, enjoyed our time together at FHS!Comment publication date: 4/23/26, 10:23 PMComment source: Howard David JacksonComment author: Jack & Nancy CookComment text: Wonderful man.
