Republican Assembly Leader Dr. Robin Titus announced Wednesday her intent to run for re-election for Assembly District 38 in 2020. First elected in 2014, Titus said she has focused on having a common sense, conservative approach to the challenges facing Nevada.
“It has been an honor representing the voters of Assembly District 38,” Titus said. “As a medical doctor, I understand how our health care system works and how we can improve it to provide quality care for all Nevadans. As we continue Nevada’s comeback, I will be focused on working with my colleagues to further improve our economy and education system. We cannot let a national leftist agenda threaten all that we have accomplished. Like a good doctor, we need to listen and put our constituents first.”
In 2019, Titus served on the Health and Human Services; Natural Resources, Agriculture, and Mining; and Ways and Means Committees in the Nevada Assembly. Through her hard work and bipartisan efforts, she championed legislation to increase primary care access by allowing Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants to practice within their full scope of work and designated April 16th as “Healthcare Decisions Day” in Nevada. Titus is the only current member of the Nevada Legislature to have a lifetime score from the American Conservative Union higher than 90 percent.
“Dr. Titus has been a consistent and reliable vote for conservative values in the Nevada State Legislature,” said Senate Republican Leader James Settelmeyer (R – District 17).
Assemblywoman Jill Tolles (R – District 25) announced her support for Titus.
“Dr. Titus is a proven champion for modern health care delivery, and through her leadership, she has helped increase quality of care for Nevadans all across our great state,” Tolles said.
Assemblyman Tom Roberts (R – District 13) is another supporter.
“Her commitment to Nevada’s natural resources, our first responders, government efficiency, and access to health care is a testament to her hard work and commitment to our state,” Roberts said.
Titus received her Medical Degree from the University of Nevada School of Medicine after receiving her Bachelor of Science from the University of Nevada, Reno. She has been a family physician in Smith Valley since 1984.
Outside of work and the legislature, Robin enjoys spending time with her family. She is married to her husband Allen Veil. She has two children, three stepchildren, and nine grandchildren. In 2005, she trekked to the base camp of Mount Everest and in 2008, she summitted Mount Kilimanjaro. In total, she has completed 10 marathons. Titus also enjoys hiking, hunting, fishing, and exploring Nevada’s many ghost towns.
