One-way traffic and travel detours will take place on Main Street through downtown Fernley Tuesday, July 30 as part of a Nevada Department of Transportation project to resurface multiple area state roads.

  • From 6 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, Main Street through downtown Fernley will be reduced to one-way westbound traffic only from near the Fernley roundabout to the intersection with U.S. 95A. Eastbound traffic will be detoured via I-80.
  • Weekday single lane closures will then take place on segments of Farm District Road daily between 8 a.m.-5p.m. through Aug. 2 as the roadway is resealed and a cattleguard replaced.
  • Intermittent single lane closures will also continue on Farm District Road (State Route 828) and West Main Street (U.S. 50A and State Route 427) between Interstate 80 west Fernley exit 46 and the Fernley roundabout through mid-August as final surfacing and roadway striping is placed. The road work will primarily take place weekdays between 8 a.m.-5p.m., with potential intermittent weekend lane closures.

Drivers should anticipate travel delays of up to 30 minutes. Pilot cars will be in place to safely guide motorists through the road work zones. Motorists are advised to drive at posted work zone speed limits, or slower as necessary for conditions. The road work schedule is subject to change.

Known as a slurry seal, the roadways are being resurfaced with a sealing layer of asphalt as an economical method to reduce roadway cracking and rutting.
