Single lane closures and minor travel delays will take place on multiple Fernley-area state roads beginning July 19 as the Nevada Department of Transportation reseals roadway surfaces.

From 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, July 19, Farm District Road will be reduced to a single lane between Brush Drive and the eastern intersection with U.S. 50A. Weekday single lane closures will also take place on the far eastern end of Farm District Road through late July as a cattleguard is replaced.

Single lane closures will then continue weekdays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Farm District Road (State Route 828) and West Main Street (U.S. 50A and State Route 427) between Interstate 80 west Fernley exit 46 and the Fernley roundabout through early August. The road work is scheduled to begin on West Main Street near the I-80 west Fernley exit 46 and progress eastward before reaching the Fernley roundabout and continuing on Farm District Road.

Brief lane closures will also take place on the routes in mid-August as new roadway striping is placed.

One-way traffic with traffic controls and pilot cars will be in place to safely guide motorists through the road work zones, with travel delays of up to 30 minutes. Motorists are advised to drive at posted work zone speed limits, or slower as necessary for conditions. The road work schedule is subject to change.

Known as a slurry seal, the roadway will be resurfaced with a sealing layer of asphalt as an economical method to reduce roadway cracking and rutting.
