Parade, park activities and fireworks to make 4th of July a blast

Parade, park activities and fireworks to make 4th of July a blast

Robert Perea, The Fernley Reporter

The traditional parade down Main St., activities in the park and a nightcap of fireworks will highlight the annual Fernley 4th of July celebration this Thursday.

The theme of this year’s celebration is “Only in America.”

The day begins with a pancake breakfast hosted by the Masons at the Mason Lodge off North West Street, from 7-10 a.m.

The cost is $7 per person or $25 per family, with all donations going to fund high school scholarships.

Afterward, the parade gets under way at 10 a.m., starting at East St. (the light at 95A and Main St.) and ending at Lois Lane.

The parade is kicked off by the Show n Shine cars and is then led down Main St. by the Nevada Veterans Coalition with the presenting of the National Colors.

After the parade, the day’s fun and entertainment at the Out of Town Park starts with the flag raising at 1 p.m.

There will be a host of vendors, refreshments, a Show n Shine, kids games (some are free, some have a cost), a new VIP area, music, a raffle, the presentation of the parade trophies, a watermelon eating contest, the always popular greased pig contest, and lots more.

All the while, the DJ will provide the soundtrack to the day.

Once dusk rolls around, the night will conclude with a bang with the spectacular fireworks show.

The Fireworks start at approx. 9:30 p.m., with Fernley’s Biggest Little Radio, 101.3 FM will provide the soundtrack to the firework show.

Biggest Little Radio will also be broadcasting the parade live and will have a booth at the Out of Town Park with another broadcast between 7-9 p.m.

once the Fireworks are over, there will be music on the main stage until midnight.

Why does the County have to pay the whole bill? Just my opinion.Comment publication date: 5/7/26, 10:26 AMComment source: Storey County, Tesla partner to extend I-80 Patrick on-rampComment author: Alan ReederComment text: Great guy, laughed easily, had fun with his students, enjoyed our time together at FHS!Comment publication date: 4/23/26, 10:23 PMComment source: Howard David JacksonComment author: Jack & Nancy CookComment text: Wonderful man.
