Competing at the 3A state girls golf championships for the third time in her career, Fernley’s Jenna Kollar had a moment of a lifetime.

Kollar, one of three Fernley players who qualified for the tournament, hit a hole-in-one on the seventh hole in Monday’s first round at Schaffer’s Mill Golf Course in Truckee.

Olivia Victor was the top individual placer for Fernley, placing 17th out of 40 players with a two-day score of 202. Victor was tied for 10th with a 95 after Monday’s first round, before shooting 107 Tuesday.

McKenna Montgomery finished 22nd with a 217, shooting 110 Monday and 107 Tuesday.

Kollar finished 23rd with 219, finishing at 118 Monday before dropping 17 shots to 101. Tuesday.

Tatyana Carlson of Lowry was the individual champion with a two-day score of 155, shooting a first-round 81 Monday and a 74 in the second round Tuesday.

Boulder City was the team champion with a cumulative two-day score of 744.

“Proud of the way the girls played this week,” Fernley coach Brian O’Neill said. “Schaffer’s Mill was a great venue for the event. They all did great off the tee and carried themselves well.”

O’Neill said the course monitors for the groups all commented on how well the girls represented Fernley High School.

“Their growth over their high school careers was apparent and it was very enjoyable working with them,” O’Neill said.
