Three members of the Fernley High School girls golf team qualified for the 3A State Championships, which is being played Monday and Tuesday at Schaffer's Mill Golf Course in Truckee.

The tournament begins with the first groups teeing off at 10 a.m. each day.

McKenna Montgomery was the No. 2 at-large qualifier with a season average of 101.7, Olivia Victor was the fourth individual qualifier with an average of 105.0 and Jenna Kollar edged Allie Lister of Fallon by a tenth of a point for the sixth spot with a 105.8 average.

This will be Kollar’s third consecutive trip to the state tournament, while Montgomery and Victor qualified for the second straight year.

Montgomery’s average was also good enough to earn her All-Northern Region second team honors.

The Vaqueros finished fifth in last Wednesday’s final league meet of the season in Winnemucca, with a team score of 482.

But they consistently finished fourth throughout the season, with one third-place finish.

In Winnemucca, Victor was the team’s lowest scorer with a 108, while Kollar shot 113 and Montgomery finished at 120. Teagan Summers shot 141 and Laney Miller checked in at 144.
