The Nevada Department of Transportation has promoted Thor Dyson as assistant director of operations.

Dyson will oversee construction activities for state road projects, including NDOT construction administration, roadway materials, equipment, traffic operations and maintenance and asset management professionals responsible for administering construction, preserving state roadway pavements, keeping the NDOT fleet mobile and managing traffic operations.

Thor Dyson

Dyson began his NDOT career in 1989 as an NDOT rotational engineer, before spending three years as construction resident engineer, and six years serving in roles as assistant district engineer for construction and assistant district engineer for maintenance. Since 2003, he has served as district II engineer responsible for oversight of all NDOT maintenance and construction activities in northwestern Nevada.

“For nearly 30 years, I’ve had the opportunity to work with NDOT construction and maintenance professionals performing highway operations in northwestern Nevada,” Dyson said. “Now, I look forward to bringing that experience to work side-by-side with fellow NDOT team members to construct, maintain and operate the more than 5,000 miles of state highway across Nevada.”

Dyson is a registered professional engineer in Nevada. He replaces former NDOT assistant director of operations Reid Kaiser who retired after nearly 30 years at NDOT.
