Services set for Fernley florist Mario Flores

Robert Perea, The Fernley Reporter

Viewings have been scheduled Thursday and Friday and Mass Saturday for Mario Flores, owner of Mario’s Flowers and Gifts, who died Feb. 25 at Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno.

Flores opened Mario’s Flowers and Gifts in the early 2000s, and became a beloved figure in the community. He often donated flowers for special events, recently provided an arrangement for a wedding for a couple who couldn’t afford it, and several years ago, donated money to prevent the Community Christmas Parade from being postponed.

Mario’s Flowers remains open in honor of Flores, and is offering a 35 percent discount on all flower arrangements and gifts.

There will be a viewing at Mountain View Mortuary at 425 Stoker Ave. in Reno from 6-9 p.m. on Thursday, March 8, and from 5-9 p.m. Friday, March 9. Mass will be at Little Flower Church at 875 E. Plumb Lane at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 10.

Why does the County have to pay the whole bill? Just my opinion.Comment publication date: 5/7/26, 10:26 AMComment source: Storey County, Tesla partner to extend I-80 Patrick on-rampComment author: Alan ReederComment text: Great guy, laughed easily, had fun with his students, enjoyed our time together at FHS!Comment publication date: 4/23/26, 10:23 PMComment source: Howard David JacksonComment author: Jack & Nancy CookComment text: Wonderful man.
