Text causes lockdown at FHS
Robert Perea, The Fernley Reporter

Confusion over a text message received by a Fernley High School staff member led to a precautionary lockdown Friday morning, but no threat was found.

Lyon County School District superintendent Wayne Workman said an FHS staff member received a text message that turned out to be from the University of Montana Western, which received a bomb threat. The FHS staff member is on Montana Western communication list.

Lyon County sheriff’s deputies responded to FHS did a quick sweep of the school as a precaution. “Nobody was ever in danger and school staff and law enforcement are to be commended for how they handled the situation,” Workman said. “School operations proceeded as normal during the process.”

The Missoulian reported that the Montana Western campus was evacuated, but was reopened after no threat was found.

Why does the County have to pay the whole bill? Just my opinion.
