On Jan. 18, 2018, Yerington Intermediate School hosted the 2018 Scripps National Spelling Bee for grades 6th through 8th in Lyon County School District. The first place winners from each grade have advanced to the state round scheduled for March 17, 2018 at Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas.


Below are the competitors and winners from each grade level.


Grade 6:

1st Place:  Murphy Scott - Silver Stage Middle School

2nd Place:  Kayleigh Douton - Silver Stage Middle School

3rd Place:  Devin Gray - Fernley Intermediate School
