Regent Carol Del Carlo announces bid for reelection
The Fernley Reporter

Nevada native Carol Del Carlo announced on Jan. 18 her bid for reelection to the Nevada System of Higher Education University Board of Regents, District 9.

First elected in 2016, Carol is pursuing re-election for a full 6-year term.

During her first term, Carol has focused on workforce development and identifying courses that align with the growing demand throughout Nevada.

“My first two year term allowed me to familiarize myself with all aspects of the Nevada System of Higher Education. I consider it a privilege to serve the many students, faculty and staff who are working hard to improve our campuses and produce elite graduates,” Del Carlo said. “Nevada is growing and we’re facing new demands and challenges. We must put in place the necessary educational programs for the industries moving to the Silver State and that will
continue to be a priority for me in my next term.”

In addition to the announcement, Carol Del Carlo is honored to have the support of Nevada elected officials within District 9.

“Carol continues to be engaged in the issues and working with business and community leaders on Nevada’s priorities. I fully support her re-election and appreciate her dedication toward Nevada’s System of Higher Education,” said Congressman Mark Amodei (NV-2).

“Carol has done an excellent job in looking out for the rural communities and smaller colleges. Carol is a true ally, I continue to look forward to working with her and advocating for higher education,” said State Senator James Settelmeyer.

“Carol is a wonderful partner and I appreciate her engaging local leaders. Through collaboration, we can identify the needs of our community and workforce development programs,” said Carson City Supervisor Lori Bagwell.

Del Carlo was born in Reno, attended Wooster High School and is a graduate of the University of Nevada, Reno. She lives in Incline Village with her husband, George.

The University Board of Regents, District 9 consists of Carson City, Churchill, Douglas, Esmeralda, Lander, Lyon, Mineral, Storey and Washoe Counties.
