Senior Pro Rodeo Western Dinner and Calcutta

Joseph Maino The Fernley Reporter

After a hard day of Rodeo, contestants and fans relax at the Western Dinner and Calcutta. Lee Daggett, rodeo announcer also lead the Calcutta auction. Daggett travels all over the west announcing for various rodeos.

“I've announced rodeos from Canada to Nevada, but this is my first year in Fernley. You have a nice town here. Small towns are the best.” said Daggett.

The Senior Pro Rodeo is run by volunteers like Shannon Patterson who is the manager for the Big R store in Fernley. Patterson was raised by her rodeo and real life cowboy father who was known for riding buffalo.

Patterson said, “I work the stripping chutes for the bulls and broncs. It's a lot of fun. The rodeo is all about the fans, cowboys, cowgirls and family.”

The dinner was also attended by Miss Fernley Rodeo, Sarah Fowers and 14 year old rodeo Teen Queen, Jessica Betz. Betz attends the Arts Careers and Technology Academy and dreams of being large animal veterinarian after she completes college.

Why does the County have to pay the whole bill? Just my opinion.Comment publication date: 5/7/26, 10:26 AMComment source: Storey County, Tesla partner to extend I-80 Patrick on-rampComment author: Alan ReederComment text: Great guy, laughed easily, had fun with his students, enjoyed our time together at FHS!Comment publication date: 4/23/26, 10:23 PMComment source: Howard David JacksonComment author: Jack & Nancy CookComment text: Wonderful man.
